Description

The Balfour Retractor is used to hold open the abdominal walls during surgery. The Balfour is made up of the frame with an arm on each end and a blade in the middle that can slide from side to side and be locked into place. The surgical retractor can either be self retaining or locked into place. The self retaining retractor uses the pressure from the body cavity to hold the balfour arms open during the procedure. The other style is where the arm that moves has a thumb screw on that will be tightened to lock it in place. This fixed arm will prevent any movement during the procedure. The Balfour Retractor is available in varying sizes from a Pediatric 3.5″ Spread to the Large 6″ Spread.
